Production of sound by vibrating solids, speed of sound in solids, liquids, and gases; vibrating air, columns, intensity, pitch and quality, response of the ear to sound waves, interference of sound waves. Doppler effect, reflection at plane surfaces, absorption of light waves, spherical mirrors, thin lenses, combination of lenses, lens aberrations, optical instruments, resolving power of microscopes
